Hrafnhildur is a co-founder and director of JCA, a London based international architectural practice established in 2009.  JCA is a team of highly experienced architects and planners, who provide expertise in the design of healthcare, research and academic buildings.  

Originally from Iceland, Hrafnhildur studied architecture in the US and Denmark and has over 18 years of experience of the design of healthcare projects, combing design skills with detailed knowledge of medical planning.  She has a keen interest in the contextual and urban issues that shape the design of hospitals as buildings of civic importance.

Hrafnhildur has been a lead designer on all of JCA’s projects, which have included projects with many of the UK’s major NHS Trust as well as overseas clients such as the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital Trust, a project we won in competition and completed in Johannesburg in 2016, Hopital De La Tour in Geneva, completed in 2018 and the ongoingKhalid Al Hassan Cancer Centre in Ramallah, Palestine.
