At the age of 22 Arnold received his MSc from Delft Technical University in 1988. Now he has 30 years’ post-qualification experience. Starting his career for several companies in 1993 at the age of 28 he became a director at Nijst Idema Burger architecten, an office specialized in healthcare buildings.

In 2001 he started his own practice in Alkmaar. This office SEED architects works on a wide variety of projects and always designing sustainable buildings with time as the 4th dimension. The most important might be the Martini Hospital which has become famous for its ultimate flexibility.

In 2013 Arnold established a new company called Dutch Hospital Design working on hospitals worldwide. With a team of specialists they cover all aspects of the definition and the design of healthcare buildings, such as IT, logistics, architecture, structure, M&E, interior design, landscape design, parking and healing environment. Arnold is married and has 3 raised children.
